Mindfulness is about waking up, connecting with ourselves, and appreciating the fullness of each moment of life. Jon Kabat-Zinn calls it, “the art of conscious living.” It is a profound way to enhance psychological and emotional resilience, and increase life satisfaction. It involves intentionally bringing one’s attention to the internal and external experiences occurring in the present moment, and there are many different ways to practice. Sitting in meditation is just one type of practice, but we know from current mindfulness literature that informal ways of practicing mindfulness skills have equally effective outcomes. Mindfulness training has emerged as a powerful for enhancing mental health. It is empirically supported as an effective intervention in addressing stress, chronic pain, anxiety, depression and disordered eating. Michelle is a meditation practitioner with over 30 years of personal experience. She has taught meditation for more than 20 years and is a registered member of the Meditation Association of Australia. She uses evidence-based strategies to teach people how to meditate with ease, so that they can live in honour of a happier, calmer, more meaningful life. Through mindfulness and meditation, Michelle will teach you how to calm an overactive mind, overcome negative thinking, reduce stress, soothe the nervous system, improve sleep, manage anxiety, offer self-compassion and improve focus. Michelle works with adults and adolescents and takes her time to get to know and understand her client’s individual and unique needs in order to deliver a carefully tailored approach. Sessions are currently conducted online via Zoom.
